Torquay pull out of Devon KO Cup

TORQUAY have handed holders Sidmouth a walk-over into the semi-finals of the Devon KO Cup after conceding Sunday’s tie on the Fortfield.

“Unfortunately we have numerous players unavailable – a combination of club and county coaching commitments – plus fathers’ day commitments and tickets to the ICC Champions Trophy,” said Torquay captain Ben Passenger.

“It is with great regret we are unable to fulfil our game at Sidmouth.”

Torquay had hoped league officials would allow them to play the game on another date, but that that idea never even got off the ground.

League administrator Geoff Coish said Torquay are regarded as having withdrawn from the competition and Sidmouth will play either Paignton or Plymouth in the semi-finals.

Exmouth or Plymstock will be at home to either Cornwood or Exeter in the top half of the draw.
