PLANS to switch the Thomas Trophies Teignbridge T20 competition from Wednesday nights to Sunday afternoons have been dropped

.

Competition organisers canvassed clubs asking of they were interested in moving games to get away from the midweek congestion.

The two long-standing competitions – the Narracott and Brockman cups – are played on weekday evenings, as are most games in the Island Sports South Devon Youth League.

Administrator Geoff Coish took soundings around the clubs taking part and quickly scrapped the Sunday switch.

“The competition will be played on evenings as last year as there is little support for a move to Sundays,” said Coish.

Two divisions of three teams will play each other home and away to determine two finalists who will meet in late June to decide a league winner.

The winners of the Teignbridge competition will face the Torbay T20 winner to find the South Devon representative in the county semi-finals in late July.

Ipplepen have pulled out of next season’s tournament and been replaced by Ashburton in Group Two with Chagford and South Devon.

Group One comprises Bovey Tracey, Chudleigh and Abbotskerswell.
