SKIPPER Ross Treleaven was Topsham St James’ player of the season as they just managed to avoid relegation from the E Division by a point.Treleaven won the Brewer Cup as the club’ player of the year having scored 410 runs and taken 37 wickets.
Despite Topsham’s lowly position in the table – relegated Uppotery were only a point below them – Treleaven (pictured left with Sheila Harding) was the leading wicket-taker in the E Division. He aslso won the Evans Cup.
The awards were handed out on presentation evening, which was held at Route 2 in Topsham.
Top batsman with 487 runs in the league was Tom Richardson (pictured, right).
The bowling performance of the season went to Adrian Miller, who took eight for 32 against Uplyme on the last day of the season.
Miller’s tally for the season also included the ultra-rare quad-trick, taken against Shaldon on the last day of the season.
Alex Sparkes played the innings of the season against Tiverton & Bickleigh on a soggy day on August.
Sparkes, batting at number six, went in with the score 28 for five in reply to Tiverton & Bickleigh’s 204 all out
Sparkes saw four more wickets fall in a hurry, leaving the score 33-9. He went on to make 48 off 70 balls and with last man Rhys Beauchamp (6no off 51 balls) put on a club record 1st XI tenth-wicket partnership of 59.

The club’s colts’ presentation took place in the Bonfire Field clubhouse as a curtain raiser to the main event.
All the children there were given a medal to show they played or trained at the Club in 2012.

U13s: batting - Charlie Goodfellow; bowling - Leon Ryder-Potter; coach’s award - Jack Telford.
U12s: batting- Matthew Pring; bowling - Jay Warren; coach’s award - Oliver Cox.
Girls; batting - Annie McShane; bowling - Lucy Harding; coach’s award - Sophia Pym.
U10 pairs: batting – Harry Meadows; bowling - Alex Rowe; all-rounder - Luca Pym; coach’s award - Seth Richold.
Finally, club patron Percy Govier presented the Govier Trophy for the colt of the year to 13 year-old Jim Shepherd.
