South Area umpire training course dates fixed

UMPIRE training for new officials has been organised by the Devon Association of Cricket Officials ready for the 2012 season.

A level one course for beginners in the South area will start in March next year and run for four Saturdays until the 24th.

The lead tutors on the course are David Moseby and Chris Shelton from the Devon League Premier Division panel.

Moseby said the course covers everything a new umpire needs to know about controlling a one-day match.

“The course is a great opportunity for anyone, whatever their experience, to improve their skills and knowledge,” said Moseby, the South area training officer for DACO.

“It is also the chance to attain a national qualification and get more enjoyment out of the game.

“We cover all relevant laws, field craft and how to manage a match.”

Cost of the course is £65 and include an illustrated work book, Tom Smith’s cricket law book, a CRB check arranged, membership of DACO for a year, insurance cover and lunch at every session.

The venue is Brixham CC and running times are 9.30am to 1pm.

To book a place contact Moseby on 01803 851203, or through an email to david.moseby@btinternet.com.
