Devon have three players in MCCA side
THREE Devon players are in the Minor Counties Representative XI to face the MCC at Sidmouth on Thursday (11am).

Keeper Matt Thompson, Sidmouth’s Josh Bess and Exmouth paceman Trevor Anning are in the side, which is being skippered by Cornwall’s Tom Sharp.

The full team is: T G Sharp (Cornwall), T S Anning, J J Bess (both Devon), P R Hindmarch (Cumberland), J D Levitt (Wiltshire), A J Norman (Wales), C M Park, G T Park, S M Park (all Cambridgeshire), A J Sydall (Cheshire), M W Thompson (Torquay), B L Wadlan (Herefordshire).

It is a busy week for representative cricket at Sidmouth as the Unicorns U25s are playing Hampshire 2nd XI in a Second Eleven Trophy game on Friday.

The MCCA and Unicorns sides are under similar management, which means the teams have a number of common players.

The MCCA used to run an under-25 side in the Second Eleven Trophy, but the team was re-branded as the Unicorns and opened up to club players from First Class county boards in 2010.

All three Devon players drop out, as does skipper Sharp, although Thompson is on stand by should anyone pull out.

Thompson was a regular behind the stumps for the Unicorns last season, but has been supplanted n the side by Lewis Hill this term.

Unicorns A:  P R Hindmarch (Cumberland), J D Levitt (Wiltshire), A J Norman (Wales), C M Park, G T Park, S M Park (all Cambridgeshire), A J Sydall (Cheshire), B L Wadlan (Herefordshire), L J Hill (Leicestershire 2nd XI), V Tripathi (Barnoldswick), B Tripathy (Burnley), A S T West (Brentwood).
