WHIMPLE will go into the new season with Clubmark status after completing the Sport England accreditation process.
Clubmark is a national scheme run by Sport England, which sets the standard for all quality sports clubs in England.
It recognises high standards of safety, fairness, coaching and management.
A club awarded Clubmark has demonstrated awareness of child protection and safety, quality coaching, equal opportunities and good management.
The scheme does not simply set criteria for clubs, it provides the information and support they need to meet recognised standards of good practice.
First team captain Henry Gordon Lennox said it the club looks forward to benefitting from the recognition and support that comes from being recognised as a quality sports club.
He added: “It has taken a lot of hard work from some very dedicated people, and to successfully demonstrate that we are a club that is striving to provide the best coaching environment for young players is a fantastic acheivement for the club.
“All the junior players enjoy their cricket at Whimple and we certainly punch above our weight in the competitions we enter when you compare us to the size of the bigger clubs.
“We have teams at U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U15 and we have just re-introduced an U17 team so that age group gets to play competitive cricket against their peers but also to foster transition into adult cricket.
“Our Friday night coaching sessions are a great family event with the kids being coached while their parents stay around to enjoy the barbecue and the bar!
