WHIMPLE go into the 2014 season with two new captains in charge.
The 1st XI will be run by Henry Gordon Lennox, who has been at the club for a year and takes over from Ben Silk who is stepping down as his wife is expecting their first child. Gordon-Lennox was previously with Chagford.
The 1st XI just missed out on promotion last season and D division cricket in 2015 is top of the list.
In charge of the 2nd XI is Will Bardot who is just finishing his qualification in coaching children in cricket and hoping to get a good mix of experience and youth to help the youth section continue to blossom.
Whimple has six youth teams starting at U10s going through to U15s. Friday night youth training will be overseen by level-three coach Trevor Griffin from TCC Devon Cricket.
Griffin will be assisted by newly qualified coaches Silk, who has finished his young people and adults coaching course, Bardot and Graham Parker who has also his coaching children qualification.
New 1st XI captain Henry Gordon-Lennox also has a level-two coaching qualification, so the youth teams have plenty of expertise to call on.
Whimple are hosing Devon U17 ladies against Wales on the June 26 while East Devon U13s and U14s have fixtures against Dorset on May 28 and June 22.
The club's annual Whiteway Cup T20 tournament finals day will be on August 25.
Anyone interested in joining Whimple should contact Gordon-Lennox.
Youth section enquires should go to development officer Paul Jefferson.
